Mesonemacheilus triangularis is a very hardy fish. If they are kept in groups, there must be sufficient hiding spots. Mesonemacheilus triangularis can be aggressive towards its own species and ones similar to it. This is why there needs to be rocks, driftwood, caves, plants, etc. for them to pick their own territory. It should not be kept with fish that have long fins such as the Angelfish. Mesonemacheilus triangularis will harass fish with long fins until they are sick or die. They are very pleasing to watch when they are kept in groups. This is the only time when one will be able to see their natural behavior. These loaches will chase and dance around each other. Ocassionaly, a friendly dart at each other may occur. Their fights will never result in death if plenty of hiding spots are provided.
