Temperament:
Peaceful; Like all Corydoras species, the Black-Fin Cory is an extremely peaceful schooling fish. Should be kept in groups of four or more.

Care:
The Black-Fin Cory will accept almost all flake, pellet, frozen, and small live foods. Relishes sinking foods such as algae wafers. The tank should be well planted but have open areas for playing and foraging. The substrate should be fine sand or smooth pebbles to prevent barbel damage. This species, along with all other Corydoras, is very salt intolerant and should not be kept in aquariums that have any amount of aquarium salt in them.

Gender:
In adult fish, the female will be noticeably larger and plumper than the male.

Breeding:
Difficult to accomplish in aquaria, but spawns in the typical Corydoras manner. Two or three males are recommended for every ripe female. The female will pick a pre-cleaned flat surface such as the aquarium glass, flat rocks, or large leaves to lay the eggs on which the male will then fertilize. A water change with slightly cooler water may help trigger spawning behavior.

Comments:
Although this is a relatively common species, it is sometimes confused with other spotted Corydoras species. The Black-Fin Cory has a metallic gold patch behind the eye, on the gill cover.
